OU To hire some Marines former Marines spouses and dependants
The University of Oklahoma seeks Marines, former Marines, Marine spouses and dependents or other Marine family members for potential employment to support other Marines through a DSTRESS Crisis service.
The University of Oklahoma Outreach http://www.ou.edu/content/outreach/academics.html is seeking qualified applicants to serve as Customer Care Representatives (CCR) for the DSTRESS Line program (http://www.dstressline.com/). The DSTRESS Line provides anonymous 24/7/365 behavioral health counseling service that gives Marines, attached Sailors, and family members a place to call and talk with “one of their own” about stress in their lives-from the common everyday stressors to post-traumatic stress. Services are non-medical, so DSTRESS Line counselors won't diagnose symptoms, but they will work with callers increase resilience and develop the necessary skills required to cope with the widely varying challenges of life in the Corps and the inevitable stress of combat operations.
Candidates should be Marines, former Marines, Marine spouses and dependents or other Marine family members. These CCR positions will provide peer-to-peer counseling for Marines and Marine family members who contact the support center.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum education/experience
• Honorable discharge from USMC, or
• Current enlistment/warrant/commission in MC Reserves, or
• Current or former service as US Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, or
• Current or former marriage to a Marine, or
• Other personal and intimate-level of experience with Marine Corps (e.g., dependent status) that meets the essence of peer-to-peer counseling
Qualified candidates will have the following attributes:
• Trainability – the applicant must show an ability to absorb new material quickly and adopt protocols and procedures quickly.
• Organizational Skills- the applicant must be highly organized and methodical in their work.
• High Communication Skills- the applicant must show high touch communication skills and be able to listen, interpret and show empathy.
• Computer Literacy – the applicant must be literate in Microsoft Office.
• Team Player – the applicant must be able to work with other team members on a daily basis while accomplishing individual tasks that contribute to the overall group effort.
