New Wounded Warrior Resource Center and more from Military OneSource

The Department of Defense has announced that the Military OneSource service has established a Wounded Warrior Resource Center telephone number and e-mail address for service members and their families. They can now call toll-free or e-mail to request support 24/7.

Assistance provided by the Wounded Warrior Resource Center does not replace the specialized wounded warrior programs established by each of the military services. It offers an additional source of assistance for military facilities, health care services, and/or benefits information. The Wounded Warrior Resource Center meets the requirements of Section 1616 of the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act to ensure wounded warriors and their families and caregivers have a central number to call at any time.

Toll-Free: 1-800-342-9647
E-mail: wwrc@militaryonesource.com

In addition to the new Wounded Warrior Resource Center, Military OneSource offers 24/7 assistance and a wide variety of resources and tools for all military service members, certain DoD civilians, and their family members. All Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard service members and their families are eligible for Military OneSource. Activated status is not required for Reserve and National Guard service members. All DoD civilians and their family members are eligible for Military OneSource while they are deployed overseas and up to six months upon return.

Military OneSource provides assistance with short-term, non-medical issues via face-to-face counseling and telephone consultations. Some of the issues include deployment, transition, education, career, crisis, stress management, parenting, elder and child care, moving, legal and financial issues, relationships, and recreation. Each eligible service member, DoD civilian, or family member will receive up to six counseling sessions on a specific issue with one counselor at no cost. If they need counseling for a different issue, they must call Military OneSource and speak with a consultant to get a referral to a different counselor. Those requiring assistance with medical issues will be referred to TRICARE and/or a military treatment facility.
